INFINITUDE

AURÉLIE PEDRON

SEPTEMBER 01→ OCTOBER 15 2027

INFINITUDE is an immersive, interactive installation that offers a space for slowing down, in contrast to the speed and overstimulation of our time. The work questions the dominance of sight in how we relate to the world. It relies on kinesthetic sensation and sets out to unsettle the senses, sight in particular.

Visitors enter an enclosed space whose outer form they never see. Inside, their movement or stillness acts on a subtle constellation of light.

The work blurs scale: small and large, slow and fast, inside and outside merge, leading visitors to perceive reality differently.

Aurélie Pedron creates immersive installations that invite people to slow down. The audience’s body is central to her practice: by placing it in carefully constructed spatial situations, she unsettles our perception of reality and opens onto expanded states of consciousness, from meditation to spatial and temporal disorientation and hallucinatory sensations. She often brings together teams from very different backgrounds to create “system-works,” whose interdependent elements seek balance, much like an ecosystem.

In 2013, she founded the company Création Fractale (formerly Lilith & Cie). ENTRE (Tangente, 2014), a nanoperformance for one audience member at a time, earned her the Prix de la danse de Montréal in the Revelation category. Her later works include LA LOBA (Danse-Cité, 2016), a journey through 12 live installations in Montréal’s former Institution des Sourdes-Muettes, ANTICHAMBRE (Agora de la danse, 2019) and INVISIBLE, a 72-hour performance presented at OFFTA. She also works with marginalized youth, notably on the microperformances RÛE and MARGE (with DARE-DARE, 2014–2015) and on INDEEP (2016).
