The click of a thermostat, heating cells and cooling fans that contradict each other, the incandescence of a filament. Temperature fluctuations deform the materials which begin to resonate, then fall back into expectation. Heat as an agent at work around us; its effects become tangible. This testing ground is also a continuous performance zone. Anne-F Jacques will come sporadically to adjust, modify and disrupt the systems in place.
Anne-F Jacques is a sound artist working in Montreal. She is interested in amplification, oblique interactions between materials and the construction of various idiosyncratic systems and assemblies. Her (in)attention focuses more particularly on light technologies, banal objects and rough sounds. Her work has been presented by the Tsonami Festival (Chile), Experimental Intermedia (New York), L'Écart (Rouyn-Noranda), Ftarri (Tokyo), CTM Festival (Berlin), Umbral (México), CENTRALE for contemporary art (Brussels), Centre Clark (Montreal) and Sonandes (La Paz).
